Letter in The West Australian – Freeway Traffic Lights

Troy Buswell’s plan to install traffic lights on freeway off-ramps is another example of a poorly planned, knee-jerk reaction that has become synonymous with the State Liberal Party. Instead of wasting money on bandaid solutions to temporarily fix our traffic congestion, why not use the money to target the real problem: the inability of Perth drivers to merge correctly. Until this seemingly simple concept is used properly, congestion on our roads will continue. Freeway traffic lights may have worked in other cities, although I imagine drivers elsewhere have more respect for each other.
